Glenn Beck is probably my favorite radio personality ever. More than Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck keeps me laughing, entertained and informed for three hours a day — every day. I love it.
Anywho, recently he told a story on his radio program about a weekend trip he made into New York City as he was taking out-of-town family to see Ground Zero. As he was driving through the posh and hippiefied area of SoHo in his “big, black SUV” it became abundantly clear that the hippies there didn’t like to see his kind rolling through their neighborhood. Yelling things along the lines of “you are using too much gas”, Glenn seriously thought these hippies were going to rush his car. Evidentially, they are that militant in New York City!
Wanting to poke fun at these wacko’s and keep them off his car at the same time, Glenn proposed creating a bumper sticker (or decal) for his SUV that would give them the idea that his big, black SUV ran off of some “earth-friendly” fuel, rather than common gasoline. It just so happens, Organic Hydrocarbon is another term or name for regular, joe schmo, gasoline. If designed the right way, and put in a certain context, it can easily fool these wacko’s into thinking that it’s some Green energy, thus driving away these wacko’s from terrorizing Glenn as he drives through New York.
I’ve designed some such bumper sticker and think it’s pretty funny. If you’re smart, you can look at this and laugh at the mocking humor that it is. If you’re some dumbass hippie, you’re going to think “hey, he cares about mother earth” all the while, you’re being laughed at. It’s a beautiful thing.
