A train roaring down the track, quite a distance to my left. A street light flickering on and off, and on and off. Crickets, singing in the bushes. A red security light blinking on and off from within a truck. The wind, blowing through a row of trees, so serenely. The air; sticky, but cool. The temperature, perfect for a t-shirt and jeans. A bee, not knowing that it’s time for rest, buzzing about above my head. The air conditioner, haphazardly kicking on disrupting the stray gray cat’s walk across the parking lot. This is the perfect night.
It’s absolutely gorgeous right now. There isn’t a cloud in the sky and it’s to the point of being awesome. I love the summer.
Well, life is great lately! I’ve had my motorcycle up here in Nashville for about a week, and it’s been a blast riding it around town and riding it to work every day, or when mother nature allows. There’s a great road up here called the Natchez Trace, which starts in Nashville and goes all the way to Natchez, Mississippi! The only problem is, it’s speed limit is 40 and it’s heavily enforced. I took the road Sunday, but soon found out that the ride was far too boring for my taste. Maybe if the road was faster, so I could take some of those curves with some excitement, it would have been better. I got about 5 miles down the Trace and turned around. It was fun anyway.
Work has been great, too. On Sunday, I’m flying up to the DC area for a couple of weeks for work. I’m trying to have a White House tour arranged right now, so hopefully all of that will fall into place. Right now, we’re winding down some major projects we’ve been working on, and it’s great to know that it will soon be over, successfully.
I really don’t have a lot to say here, other than I miss everyone. While life has been busy, nothing has really been happening. I went on a golf trip last weekend, which was a blast! We played a scramble and my team actually won by hitting 4 strokes under par. Pretty impressive, if I do say so myself! We could have been 7 or 8 strokes under par, but we missed some VERY easy putts. It was disgusting. Oh, and my friend Danielle got married, too! Another one bites the dust. Hmm, oh well.
Basically, I just wanted to try to put this night into words and just throw something up here so you people didn’t think I was dead. Hope you all have a blessed week!
