So here’s an awesome email signature that I’ve been using lately. I just wanted to post it in case you use Outlook and have been in need for a change.

Pretty cool, huh? Anyhoo… The code is after the break…

OK, so the parts that have been highlighted in RED are parts where you need to download image files and inset them into your signature. Here are the image files you need.
orange_spacer.gif , grey_spacer.gif, companylogo.jpg
Anyway, what you have to do is create a new signature, put these files in a folder in the same location as your signature files <docs & settings\%username%\application data\microsoft\signatures\sigfiles> or something like that. Then refer to the files using “sigfiles\grey_spacer.gif”, etc. I edit my html signatures with notepad, since Word will most likely screw up the formatting. Stay away from Word if you can.
If you have any issues getting it to work, post a comment and I’ll help you.

i can’t get it to retrieve the images. I put the whole path into the html code (e.g., “C:\Documents and Settings\madiger\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures\companylogo.jpg”), but it still doesn’t bring them up

OK, within the Signatures directory, I have a folder called “files”. Put your images there.
Then, when you refer to those files, do it like this: IMG height=128 src=”files(SLASH)orange_spacer.gif” width=2 border=0 (brackets removed so it would show up here)
Don’t put the whole path e.g. “c:blahdeblahdeblah”.
See if that works.

It keeps jacking it up when I try to put code into a comment. Here’s a screen shot:

yeah i tried that, but it still won’t work. On the right side of the sig (where the orange spacers should be) it says this:
IMG height=128 src=”orange_spacer.gif” width=2 border=0
(brackets removed to show)
That code should be obscured, right? The grey_spacer.gif code is obscured but the image doesn’t show, and where the company logo should be there is a box with a red X in it.

Well, what’s happening then is when you’re composing the email, Outlook isn’t finding those files. When you open the html file in Internet Explorer, do the images show up?
What version of Office (Outlook) are you using?

Its Outlook 2003, or version 11.8216.blahblah.
When i open the html file in IE it looks exactly the same as how i described it above (how it is displayed in the email message).
I’ve tried doing what you said, i’ve tried to put the images in the same folder as the files and changing the path in the html code, and i’ve tried using the whole path to the images in the html code. I can’t figure out why it can’t see the images…
